How to insulate an underfloor heating with marmox boards?
Introducing Marmox Multiboard underfloor heating insulation
Underfloor heating insulation boards are an important aspect of any underfloor heating system. They provide a suitable foundation on which to lay cables or pipes and they help to ensure that a room retains its heat effectively.
Underfloor heating insulation systems have recently become a popular choice for heating homes. These systems provide a uniform heat distribution throughout rooms and are very comfortable for walking on with bare feet.
Marmox Multiboard insulation is an ideal choice for any underfloor heating insulation installation. With its excellent technical specifications and ease of installation, it not only simplifies setting up an underfloor heating system, it will also help to reduce your heating bills and cut your carbon footprint.
Why choose Marmox Multiboard underfloor heating insulation?
Marmox Multiboard is a fully waterproof insulation board with excellent load-bearing strength of 40 tonnes per square metre and is very easy to handle when installing. Marmox Multiboard is unaffected by the freeze/thaw cycle, and being CFC-, HCFC- and asbestos-free, it is safe for use in any location.
Compared to plain polystyrene (which is unsuitable for underfloor heating) Marmox Multiboard outperforms on all levels with its insulation products.
As well as underfloor heating insulation, Marmox Multiboard can also be used on walls and ceilings as a waterproofing and insulating surface. It is especially useful in locations where damp can be a problem like wet rooms.

Installing Marmox Multiboard underfloor heating insulation
Whatever the construction of your subfloor, our underfloor heating insulation will be sure to work with it. The system can be installed on both concrete and timber floors.
Fixed with adhesive
Make sure the floor is clean and dirt free. Using a floor trowel comb a thick bed of cement-based flexible tile adhesive over the floor.
Lay Marmox Multiboard down in place and press firmly. Stagger all the joints in a brick like fashion.
Tape the joints with Marmox Reinforcing Tape. For extra waterproofing you can use Marmox Multibond over or between the joints. Or for really wet areas use Marmox Self Adhesive Waterproof Tape.
The underfloor heating system can then be simply rolled out and fixed according to the manufacturer's recommendations and is then ready for tiling.
Fixing with screws and washers
Alternatively Marmox Multiboard can be fixed to floors with screws and washers.
Firstly make sure the floor is clean and dirt free. Use 12 screws/Marmox washers per 1.25m board (3 rows of 4). Secure the Marmox boards tightly to the floor, ideally in a brick like fashion.
Tape the joints with Marmox Reinforcing Tape. For extra waterproofing you can use Marmox Multibond over or between the joints and over screw holes. Or for really wet areas use Marmox Self Adhesive Waterproof Tape. The underfloor heating system can then be simply rolled out and fixed according to the manufacturer's recommendations and is then ready for tiling.
